Mind Brain Education Conference Notes - Denver 2026

These are raw notes from the Rocky Mountain Mind Brain Education Conference. It is a mix of speaker notes and my own thoughts. I will try to differentiate, but sometimes I don't do that well. If there is something you find bothersome, blame me and not the speaker.

Keynote: Few notes for the keynote session. There were insane tech issues in the room I will be presenting in later, so I didn't want to leave until we had them figured out. Thus, I missed most of the keynote.

When I came in, she was talking about neuroplasticity (how our brains change as we learn) as the means to transfer (learning how to learn in contexts other than the classroom). This is a human skill and prepares students for life outside of the classroom.

"In a changing world, how might we design learning spaces that center what makes us human?"

Education is training the mind to think. When students use AI, we lose that training. "You have to deep, effortful thinking to learn something new."
